Honoring America's First Mother: Event Recap in Fredericksburg

I recently had the privilege of photographing an event sponsored by the Washington Heritage Museums, honoring America's First Mother - Mary Washington - in Fredericksburg, VA at the Mary Washington Monument.

The event included a parade featuring the "Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. Their precision marching combined with stirring renditions of patriotic favorites such as "America the Beautiful," "Semper Fidelis," "Battle Hymn of the Republic, and" "The Marine's Hymn" was truly amazing.

Their discipline and professionalism would make anyone proud to be an American as we honor the sacrifices of those who have served our country this Memorial Day weekend.
